Veterans Day

Today, on Veterans Day, we at Generation Opportunity wanted to take a moment to honor and thank all those who have served in our Armed Forces to defend the American ideal and all that we stand for – our unique freedoms and our undying liberties.

For many it is all too easy to forget how fortunate we are to live in a nation where so many of our fellow citizens proudly, selflessly take up the cause of freedom and willingly sacrifice “their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor” to ensure that our freedoms endure, so that our lives can be better – safer and more secure.

Veterans Day reminds us of their courage and sacrifice.

Many who have decided to take up this fight are young Americans – millennials. In today’s military the average age of active duty service members is 28 years old*, and service members between 18-30 years old make up over the majority of active duty personnel in all five branches.

We would like to thank all of America’s veterans for their service to this nation, and send a special thank you to the young Americans who continue to defend our nation here and abroad.

If you are related to or know a veteran, or notice a service man or woman who is currently serving in the Armed Forces, remember to thank them for all that they have done and continue to do for America.

Also, visit us at Being American on facebook and tell us and others why you appreciate America’s veterans!
