Director of Marketing Strategy

Generation Opportunity is looking for a Director of Marketing Strategy. The Director will be in charge of customer targeting and acquisition. In this role, the ideal candidate will develop and test strategies then use outbound marketing in order to realize goals. These marketing responsibilities will include developing customer strategies for online advertising, email marketing and grassroots activities for Generation Opportunity. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and management skills and be organized, engaged, and committed to furthering GenOpp’s mission. Essential Responsibilities:
  • Design and maintain appropriate growth strategies that will compliment fast-paced business needs and schedules.
  • Establish customer funnels, goals, and objectives consistent with the organization's overall strategic plans.
  • Lead and educate internal teams on common practices and trends for digital initiatives including websites, social media, mobile sites, email products, and advertising.
  • Lead and execute experiments in support of ongoing initiatives.
  • Proactively collaborate and plan tactics to ensure that GenOpp is fully utilizing its assets to increase visibility and ensure GenOpp’s customers are being reached effectively.
  • Keep current with trends and issues in technology including current technologies and costs.
  • Stay organized and exhibit critical attention to detail.
  • Communicate effectively and on a frequent basis with senior leadership and staff.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience, including management experience, is strongly preferred
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is preferred
  • Private sector marketing experience is a plus as is a background or understanding of political and/or grassroots campaigns
  • Business analysis and technical skills to execute solutions that will allow GenOpp to advance its mission
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate and operate in a team-oriented environment
  • Working knowledge of analytical tools is preferred
  • Working knowledge of effective online advertising methods and email marketing tactics is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of HTML, SPSS, Stata, program R, or querying databases is a plus

Director of Content

The Director of Content will manage a small team of creative writers and editors who will produce and curate daily content on national and local issues. The position will serve as the managing editor of the organization’s web platforms, which are currently being redesigned and significantly expanded. The organization aims to provide organized, relevant, and bold content that helps young adults and developing professionals to understand and make decisions that will lead to a better life for our generation. The organization’s web platforms will rely heavily on original written content or written framing or analysis of curated content. The organization also produces original videos and graphics that the Director of Content will be responsible for marketing through the web platform. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop content strategies to drive repeat visits to the website, sign-ups for daily emails, and engagement and advocacy on the issues the organization and its target audiences care about.
  • Serve as the managing editor of Generation Opportunity’s web platforms, including developing, managing, editing, and organizing the various forms of content necessary for a dynamic web platform.
  • Provide the content for daily email marketing strategies.
  • Ensure consistency in content strategies between social media and earned media communications handled by other teams in the organization.
  • Manage the contracts and content of multiple writers and cartoonists who contribute to the organization’s content on a contractual basis.
  • Manage the work product and professional development of a team of content creators within the culture of the organization.
Qualifications:

Regional Director

Generation Opportunity (GenOpp) is looking for a Regional Director to oversee the state-based outreach strategies for the organization for three to four states. The Regional Director will oversee state-based teams in various target states while functioning as the conduit for open, efficient communication between the state teams and headquarters staff.  The successful candidate will have experience managing remote teams and will be interested in advancing a culture of freedom to improve the well-being of young people. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of Generation Opportunity’s field operations plan in designated states.
  • Contribute to ongoing national field operations planning and development.
  • Lead and supervise a team of State Directors charged with developing and deploying a grassroots organization capable of recruiting, community building, outreach, and engagement with young people.
  • Test new approaches to engage the targeted demographic.
  • Serve as the liaison between headquarters staff and field staff by facilitating open communication and feedback loops.
  • Along with the State Directors, manage the states’ field program budgets and logistics.
  • Interact with and reach out to representatives of key networks within the target demographic.
  • Maintain constant dialogue with active members of the grassroots leadership and extended network.
Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience in grassroots operations and/or campaign work is preferred; similar combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Campaign experience is preferred, but not required
  • Experience leading a team and managing resources
  • Possess a familiarity with the structure of federal, state, and local government
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while integrating a high degree of attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to travel as needed to work with the state teams

Qualifications:
