Interactive Designer

Generation Opportunity (GenOpp) is a free-thinking, liberty-loving, national organization of Millennials promoting the best of being American: opportunity, creativity, and freedom. GenOpp is seeking a motivated and professional Interactive Designer to join our their Digital team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a wide range of designs for interactive campaigns.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively and responsibly with the Communications, Grassroots, and Digital Tech teams in order to manage expectations for daily projects.
  • Balance and prioritize design work to ensure critical items are addressed.
  • Produce high quality deliverables while working within budget and meeting deadlines.
  • Keep supervisor aware of workload and potential conflicting commitments.

Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience working in a creative department of an agency, design shop, or digital firm is preferred
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) or related experience is preferred
  • Professional attitude is a must
  • Strong desire and ability to work creatively with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work quickly and easily handle multiple projects
  • Must be able to work cooperatively as a member of a team as well as independently
  • Expert in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
  • Must be able to provide references and samples of work
  • Experience slicing Photoshop compositions into Dreamweaver
  • Familiarity with Scrum and Agile methodologies desired
  • Experience with front-end web development (HTML/CSS) preferred
  • Working knowledge of common web programming languages (HTML/CSS/JavaScript/PHP) is helpful but not required
  • High quality print design
  • UX/UI application or website design experience
  • Mobile design experience
  • Interest in issues that affect the well-being of Millennials

Communication and Policy Intern

This non-profit organization is seeking a Communications and Policy intern to conduct research for the communications and policy teams, update content for online platforms, and conduct various administrative tasks. Responsibilities:

  • Research content for communications and policy teams.
  • Maintain content on various websites: uploading blog posts, media clips, videos, photos, etc.
  • Track, organize, order, and ship materials to various coalition partners.
  • Support four different teams with their communications, policy, and external affairs needs.

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of and interest in various social media platforms.
  • Proven track record of handling multiple lines of responsibility across varying projects.
  • Ability to take initiative; work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while integrating a high degree of attention to detail and organization.
  • Experience with Vine and Photoshop desired but not essential.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Exhibits a dedication to organization’s mission and economic freedom.

Grassroots Activism Intern

GenOpp is seeking a Grassroots Activism Intern to assist with their grassroots activism team’s goal of crafting messages to target specific demographics within states. GenOpp is a free-thinking, liberty-loving, national organization of millennials promoting the best of being American: opportunity, creativity and freedom.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist the grassroots team in researching state policies and crafting messaging to reach target demographic via social media
  • Assist the grassroots staff in identifying important events and other venues to reach our target demographic
  • Assist in developing strategies for informing state press and target demographic about critical issues that affect the organization’s mission
  • Maintain and build lists for states (colleges, media, etc)
  • Assist the grassroots team in handling regular logistics for meetings, events, shipments, etc.
  • Handle day to day tasks assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in events, marketing, political science, or related field
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills
  • Self-starter, detail-oriented, organized, and committed to excellence
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms and tools including Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with sometimes changing priorities
  • An understanding of free market principles and a passion for advancing the mission of the organization is required

Digital Tech Intern

Generation Opportunity is focused on empowering Millennials to engage in the political process through digital activism and organization. Responsibilities:

  • Write, edit and review state-based communications for organizations social media sites.
  • Monitor social mentions of organization, our peers, and relevant topics in focus states; respond, when appropriate, to build relationships within community and with key influencers.
  • Maintain and grow an email marketing program to communicate with desired audiences.
  • Brainstorm and execute creative approaches to motivate young people to interact and utilize the digital platforms created by the technology team.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the social media landscape and the use of social media for marketing; a strong commitment to staying informed of latest trends while on the job
  • The ability to create, and curate, social media content
  • The ability to measure and evaluate social media successes (and failures)
  • Excellent writing and editing skills and a proven track record of creative, outside-the-box thinking
  • A deep interest in communicating economic policies to mainstream audiences
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, including communicating with peers throughout a global organization
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Understanding of current technologies available and willingness to explore new platforms
  • Attention to detail
  • Design experience, video production, and web development (HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc.) is a plus but not required
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, humility, and high sense of urgency
  • Understanding of and passion for the ideas of liberty
